Prepping your meals for the whole week on the weekend has proven to be beneficial. Cooking meals is considered the job of women-only and when they are working women then it could really difficult. You can’t really come from the office every day and give 1.5-2 hours to just cook a meal. There are a lot of other things which also need to be handled and need attention. So today, we are going to discuss some ways which you can adopt for meal prepping and saving some time.
Make a list of your meals:
Making a list of all the ingredients can help you prepare the things beforehand and the chances of you forgetting something can be considerably reduced. Like for instance, on Monday you want to make sweet potatoes for lunch, and you have included them in your list then there are lesser chances that when you go to a grocery store you will forget to buy them.
Start with one dish at a time:
Meal prepping for the whole week ahead does not mean that you have to start preparations for all of the dishes at once. What you want to do is that you want to start with one dish which is the easiest so that you do not get overwhelmed. You want to focus on one thing at a time so pick one meal to start with.
Get your storage containers ready:
You definitely want to store all the food that you prepared for the week in storage containers so that you could easily place them in the freezer afterward. You can find a lot of cheap plastic storage containers in the market. Make sure you label each and every single container so that when you go to take the storage containers out of the freezer you know which food is placed in which container.
Chop and Pre-cook the ingredients beforehand:
If you are working with vegetables, herbs or even chicken then make sure that you chop everything beforehand. So that when you go for cooking, everything is prepared beforehand and none of your time is wasted. Also pre-cook the vegetables and the meat before so that on the actual cooking day. You throw all of the stuff in the cooker at once and prepare your meal in a timely manner.
Stock your pantry:
Stocking your pantry on the weekend will definitely help you in meal cooking during the weekdays. Since you would have a supply of all of your spices, baking needs. And canned items you would not feel the need of going to the grocery store in the nick of time. Last-minute grocery pick-ups are definitely the worst thing. And when this happens with me to be very honest, I lose my temper.
Trust me once you start following all of these meal prepping steps you would never want to skip your meal prep on the weekend. Once you get the hang of it, it would be like a tradition or a ritual for you.
